Here are some examples of work by local artists that I have framed. Also some information about them.

Kathryn Edwards

An artist based in West Yorkshire. She spent several years in the vibrant city of Manchester, where she gained the inspiration for this piece of work.

Her illustrations have strong nostalgic connections to the beautiful architecture of Manchester. Her ability to conjure the most inanimate of objects to life, capturing the essence of her own mnemonic attachments, is characteristic of her unique style.

Jane Townsend

My background is in Theatre Design many moons ago, specialising in set design, prop making and scenic art. However, despite several sidetracks along the way, my roots have brought me back to fine art in recent years. This initially took the form of more figurative work with landscapes and seascapes inspired by both the Donegal landscape of my youth and the wild South Pennines landscape in Yorkshire where I now live.

Living here has pushed me on to a new phase in my work, so now my current work is inspired by my fascination with the sky – the sun, the moon, the celestial night sky – and sees me move to a slightly more abstracted form of painting. Using many layers of paint, energetic use of colour, mark making and impasto effect, I’m trying to create paintings full of energy and passion. A lot of my moods, thoughts and emotions are expressed this way and it becomes therapy.

In some paintings, one may feel they can see an entirely different world within the painting to next person, and that to me is the excitement of abstraction.

Clare Pearl

Clare Pearl works as an artist here in the South Pennines.
Here practice is experimental and intuitive. She is inspired by the landscape surrounding her home, the community she is a part of, and the notion that art has the capacity to heal.
